A 1950’s classic home given a new life….

When you love your location but you’ve outgrown the space in your home, you have two choices; either sell up and move on. Or increase your living space in your existing home. Our clients decided to do just that, but with no available space sideways, the only option was to go up! The original, solid home was raised with steel beams and a new ground floor was created. The ground floor became a wonderful open plan family room, with a separate laundry and bags of storage in the new double garage. Behind the kitchen a staircase leads up to 3 generous bedrooms and an office. What was once the kitchen is now a wonderful master bedroom suite, and the original front door leads onto a first floor balcony catching the gorgeous afternoon sunshine.
The new house has retained all of the character of the original house, the owners have furnished it beautifully and the minute you enter through the new front door it feels warm, welcoming and homely. One of my personal favourites, it shows what can be done on a difficult site, adding value and keeping the character with a modern twist.
